Travel Style Tips
Look amazing the moment your vacation begins with these tips on how to choose the perfect travel outfit. A fashion stylist shares her tips on how to look great while traveling, no matter where you're going or how you plan on getting there.
"When I'm getting ready to take a trip, no matter how long or how short, I like to look my best," says fashion stylist Wendy Norwood-Patterson.
But getting the balance between comfort and style is important, she says, especially for plane travel.
"Dressing fashionable, yet practical for the airport can be a little bit tricky," she says.
Wendy says you need to pick a go-to travel outfit, so when you're traveling, you always know what to go to in your closet.
How to choose the perfect travel outfit :
Comfort is key. You could be on a short trip and it's no big deal, or you could be on one of those trips where it is a whole day and you have layovers. While Wendy's not a fan of wearing sweats or anything that looks like pajamas to the airport, if you can find a sweat suit with style and detail, it can work!
Choose clothes that wear well. You don't want to look like you slept in your clothes by the time you arrive. Look for wrinkle-free fabrics or styles that have a "wrinkled look" already. Wendy suggests a comfortable maxi dress, paired with a brightly colored scarf and sandals.
Layer, layer, layer! It's the best way to stay warm or cool while traveling. Pick clothing that is climate neutral and can easily go from warm climate to cool vice versa. Try a tee, cardigan, a scarf and a pair of jeans, or a pair of leggings, a tunic top, an infinity scarf, and a pair of flats.
Dress to get through security. Too many accessories will require time taking them off and putting them back on. Limit metal, bulky items, tie-up shoes, etc. If you wear sandals, bring a pair of socks to walk through security if you don't want to go
